Former Mustang Plays Pro Ball Against Manatees

VIERA, Florida – Former Merritt Island Mustang Dustin Geiger made a professional baseball appearance Friday night at Space Coast Stadium as the starting first baseman for the Daytona Cubs.

The Cubs beat the Manatees 5-2.
Geiger had two hits on four at-bats, scored once and had two RBIs.  He is batting .283 on the season, with nine home runs and 65 RBIs.

He was drafted in 2010 in the 24th round by the Chicago Cubs organization.  Geiger earned the Florida State League Player of the Week honors in May 2013.
In attendance was Geiger’s former high school coach Tony Haddock and several former baseball teammates.

“I had to come up with about 40 tickets tonight, “Geiger said in a post-game on-field interview.  “It was great to play in front of the hometown crowd.”
